hm.works' 1.0 journey started with the most fundamental knowledge for any business that operates digitally: intel on existing digital assets (services, products, resources that are in digital form). Version 1.1 serves intel that describes the state of the digital assets: their posture.

Introducing...

Posture Report

In our Posture Report, hm.works tells you the 3 most important things you need to know about your assets' posture:

  1. What detection, prevention, and deterrent controls are currently activated?
  2. How much of my critical services, products, and resources are configured with controls?
  3. Are my controls working as intended?

What is posture?

Posture is a state of a digital asset.

Every asset has its own range of 'good' to 'bad' posture, depending on the context in which the posture is measured. Think of it as your standing or sitting posture; most would agree that there is a 'good' posture that humans should have, but the exact conditions of the current and target posture would be vary from person to person and from situation to situation.

There are many variables that impact a digital asset's overall posture, like its settings, configurations, versions, etc.

In the context of cybersecurity, an asset's posture is measured by the controls they have.

We classify controls into three categories:

  • Check: a setting that detects techniques
  • Rule: a setting that prevents techniques
  • Policy: a standard that sets the parameters for checks and rules

Let's explore each segment of the Posture Report.
